Hardwood

Solid and engineered hardwood that brings lasting warmth and real value to any home.

Few floors match the timeless appeal of real hardwood. At our West Chester showroom we carry a full range of solid and engineered hardwood — oak, hickory, maple and more — in finishes from classic to contemporary. Solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished for generations, while engineered hardwood adds the dimensional stability to handle Ohio’s humidity swings.

Every floor we sell is professionally installed and backed by our lifetime installation warranty, so the beauty you pick out in the showroom is the beauty that lasts.

Solid and engineered hardwood, and the species we stock

Our West Chester showroom carries both solid and engineered hardwood in a wide range of species — red and white oak, hickory, maple, walnut, and more — in plank widths and finishes from hand-scraped and wire-brushed to smooth matte and classic gloss. Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood and can be sanded and refinished several times over its life, making it a true generational floor. Engineered hardwood layers a real-wood veneer over a dimensionally stable core, so it holds up better over concrete slabs, in basements, and through Ohio's humid summers and dry winters.

Not sure which is right for your home? That's exactly what we're here for. We look at your subfloor, the room's traffic and moisture, and the look you're after, then walk you through the trade-offs in plain language — no pressure, just an honest recommendation.

Why homeowners choose hardwood

Few materials add the warmth, character, and lasting value that real wood brings to a home. Buyers consistently rank hardwood among the most desirable flooring features, and unlike most surfaces it can be refreshed rather than replaced — a quick sand-and-refinish brings a tired floor back to life decades later. With proper care, a quality hardwood floor easily outlasts the mortgage.

Supplied and installed by one team

Because we both supply and install, one team is accountable from the showroom to the final board. Our own installers acclimate the wood to your home, prep the subfloor properly, and finish the job clean — and every installation is backed by our lifetime installation warranty for as long as you own the home.

Choosing the right hardwood for your home

A few simple questions usually point to the right floor. How is the room used? High-traffic homes with kids and pets do well with harder species like hickory or oak and lower-sheen finishes that hide everyday wear. Is the space over a concrete slab or below grade? That's where engineered hardwood earns its keep. Do you want to refinish it down the road? Then solid hardwood — or a thicker engineered wear layer — is the way to go. Wider planks read more modern and show off the grain; narrower strips lean traditional. We'll help you weigh look, durability, and budget so you land on a floor you'll love for decades.

Cawood Flooring Systems supplies and installs hardwood for homeowners throughout West Chester and across the Tri-State. Stop by the showroom to see full lines in person, or schedule a free in-home estimate and we'll bring the samples to you.

Hardwood FAQs

Solid or engineered hardwood — which is right for me?

Solid hardwood is ideal for main living areas and can be refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood is more stable over concrete or in below-grade rooms. We'll help you choose based on your subfloor and how each room is used.

Can you refinish my existing hardwood floors?

Often, yes. We'll assess the wear, board thickness, and finish, then give you an honest recommendation on whether refinishing makes sense or replacement is the better value.

How long does hardwood installation take?

Most rooms install in a few days, plus time for the wood to acclimate to your home first. You'll get a firm timeline in your written proposal before we begin.
